Our Little Valentines

It's Valentines Day! There's a lot of love to celebrate in our little house this year. Cassidy is surprising and delighting us every day, growing leaps and bounds and changing all the time. It seems like every week or so we see another "click" in her understanding of things, the way she communicates with us, just her growing up in general. She still loves Curious George. She has learned that sometimes it's okay to not be soooooooo busy, at least long enough to actually sit in our laps and read a story...or three. She has favorite books and new favorite words and expressions. Oh, and foods...her current favorites are cheese (still) and now grapefruit!
Most of the time she's uninterested in standing still and smiling for a picture though.
And when I do catch a good smile, it turns out blurry. Sheesh!
We decided to be done with the highchair (this evening put it away...at least until Travis needs it in a couple of months). Cassidy happily climbs up into her spot at the table. All this time I was worried how we'd fix the booster seat to the dining table bench and we didn't need to do that at all! She sits just fine on her own.The cookie monster strikes again!I told Kurt instead of bringing me a flower for Valentines Day, to please pick up a balloon for Cassidy. She was in heaven with her red heart balloon. Until naptime. Of course you can't send a two-year old to bed with a balloon on a long string to play with, but hearing no and saying goodbye to her balloon brought on the biggest tears I've seen in a long time. And then there's sweet Travis. After a bout of croup last week (which he's fully recovered from) we're now dealing with new teeth coming in (will they just poke through already???!!!) AND a major growth spurt. Poor guy. He manages to smile a few hundred times a day anyway.Cassidy thinks it's the best thing in the world that Travis has a hat. She put it on him before a short swing nap this morning. Our little Valentines keep us busy! But more than that, they provide tons of comic relief, and remind us what life's all about. God gave us the best two gifts we could ever want in these two little creatures. Happy Valentines Day!
