There's a Pumpkin in my pantry!

Cassidy has always been intrigued with the laundry room. Usually she tries to shut the door so she can be alone and attempt to make it all the way behind the hot water heater before mommy catches her. But one day recently, she discovered the pantry. Oh, the fun there is to be had in a pantry! She can spend an hour arranging and rearranging the dry goods, stacking cans of various sizes, removing and then replacing everything from the shelves. And of course, just like Kayla before her, she's chosen the small tomato paste cans as her favorites. It must be the size, perfect for little hands. Here's the Pretty Pumpkin in all her glory, with the bounty methodically spread around her. Nothing is more entertaining to this girl!

Waiting for Daddy to come home

Mommy said he'd be home when I woke up from my nap......but I can't find him anywhere.
I'll just stand at the door until his car comes into view.
When he arrives, I'll be ready to greet him.

He's here! He's here! Finally! Yippee!!!

Outside

We had above freezing temps this afternoon along with a good dose of sunshine so we all headed out for a walk. Here's Cassidy ready to go outside! She absolutely loves putting on her winter coat. She holds out each arm and giggles when I put up the hood. Today she also wore Kayla's old princess snow boots for the first time and they fit!
I'm ready to go! Let's go have fun!But then we got outside and her feet hit the snow for the first time. It never occured to us that she wouldn't know what to do in snow. Basically, she froze. She was very intrigued but scared to move...
...so she ended up in the stroller! It's been a few months since we last had her in the stroller and she's grown quite a bit. It was funny to see her grabbing onto the bar and swinging her little legs over the end!

A foodie like the rest of us

It's Saturday morning and Cassidy is eating breakfast. Cereal and milk? No. Fruit and waffles? No. She takes after her Grandpa Faust, preferring last night's dinner leftovers for breakfast. Today it's turkey florentine meatballs with spinach, parmigiano reggiano and garlic. It's been fun experimenting to see what she likes. Plain poached chicken? No. Chicken braised with wine and mushrooms? Yes! White elbow pasta with a little butter? No. Whole wheat fusili with olive oil, tomato sauce and loaded with italian herbs? Yes! Apparently she developed quite a palate before she was born and is now remembering the finer things in life. Happy eating, Pumpkin!

Depends on who you ask

I can't believe these words came out of my mouth today:
Cassidy, you're too big for that!

The fun is about to begin!

Aaron, Sheri and Kayla are coming to visit today! We spent the morning looking at pictures of them and talking about their arrival, and Cassidy was ready at the window and door to wave at them. I'm sure it will be a fun weekend! (In case you're wondering, yes, Cassidy did have a bad clunk while we were playing the other day. Her lip looked so bad after it happened but she's almost fully healed now. Seeing a mark on your precious baby's face is sad for parents, but we realize it's probably the first of many!)
